In June 1919 Alcock and Brown made the first non-stop transatlantic flight.
As they made their return to London from Ireland, the train stopped at Rugby Station to pick up Lieut. Brown’s fiancee, Miss Kennedy.
Crowds collected at the station but were not allowed onto the platform. Complaints were made and an explanation given by the Railway Company.
